One to One Mentoring

Big Brother Mentoring

The Big Brothers mentoring program provides boys and young men with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests, and is supported by our experienced case-workers. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.

The Big Brothers mentoring program usually requires two regularly scheduled outings a month of a few hours each and a minimum of a one year commitment.

Big Sister Mentoring

The Big Sisters mentoring program provides girls and young women with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests, and is supported by our experienced case-workers. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.

The Big Sisters mentoring program usually requires two regularly scheduled outings a month of several hours each and a minimum of a one year commitment.

In-School Mentoring

Provides girls and boys in Grades 1-6 with a role model and friend, aged 18+, to talk to and share their experiences with, at a local school. For one hour a week, Mentors meet with their Mentee and engage in activities such as board games, crafts or just hanging out in the playground.  Matches do not meet over the summer or school holidays.

Literacy Mentoring

This program is a group that provides children and youth in Grades 2-8 in elementary school with a friend and role model to assist students with their academic skills & self-esteem.  Matches meet during the school year at their local library branch to improve skills.

Recreation Mentoring

This program is a group that provides children and youth in Grades 2-8 in elementary school with a friend and role model to assist students with their academic skills & self-esteem.  Matches meet during the school year at their local library branch to improve skills.

Family Mentoring

Matches families to a child or youth. This unique match allows the couple to share their relationships demonstrating friendship that can benefit the child immensely by exposing him or her to a caring, respectful adult relationship.

Couples Mentoring

Matches Couples to a child for a unique two-to-one friendship. This friendship can benefit the child immensely by exposing him or her to a caring, respectful adult relationship. The agency strives to match each couple with a child who corresponds with the couple’s abilities & interests.

Summer Mentoring

Designed for volunteers in post-secondary school and high school graduating students wishing to be matched 1:1 with a youth aged 11 and up for the duration of 2—4 months (preferably April—August).

Between Generations Mentoring

Provides children in Grades 1-8 in a group setting, over 6-8 weeks, with Mentors aged 50+, who share in a variety of activities at a local seniors centre or community site to learn new skills and develop new relationships. Activities may include board games, crafts, woodworking, etc.

Group Mentoring

Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds!

Go Girls! is a group mentoring program for girls ages 12-14 that focuses on physical activity, balanced eating and self-esteem. The single, most important goal of the program is to positively shape the lives of young women and girls by helping them build a positive self-image – setting them on a path to reach their full potential in life.

The Go Girls! program consists of seven mentoring sessions, held over a 7-10 week period, within school facilities. Each 1.5-2 hour-long session is loosely structured around four themes: physical activity, healthy eating, self-esteem, and communication skills.

Game On! Eat Smart, Play Smart!

Game On! is a group mentoring program for providing boys and young men with information and support to make informed choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices. Through non-traditional physical activities, complemented with healthy eating support, participants are engaged in life skills, communication, and emotional health discussions designed to engage participants in the pursuit of life-long healthy lifestyles.

Game On! includes seven 75-minute core sessions. There are also four extension modules that capture potential issues and topics specific to various locales and the interests of the mentors and participants.

Cops for Kids

Cops for Kids Group Program offers a unique opportunity  to build positive relationship with members of the local OPP. It is a group program is designed for children & youth seeking a group social experience.

Big Bunch Mentoring

The Big Bunch group program is designed for children & youth seeking a group social experience.  They take part in monthly group activities such as hiking, mini-golf, scrap booking, movie nights or games.

The Senior Big Bunch Group program focuses on the “5 Pillars of Life” assisting youth with successful completion of their secondary school career and beyond.
